Ready for the Pool

We've been trying to get Brody to float on his back for almost a year. Out of the blue the other day, he just started doing it! He loves it and can't wait to go swimming in the big pool. It's definitely warm enough now. In fact...I think we'll go today.

Lazy Sunday Mornings

Closing at work Saturday night and not getting home until 2 in the morning has made for many a lazy Sunday morning. No worries though, Brody is more than ready to just chill with us. Lately he's been obsessed with coloring with his markers. He does it everyday whenever he gets the chance. It's never a problem provided he keeps it on the paper. Once in a while his creativity spills over to the walls, or carpet, toys or himself. Thank goodness for washable markers.

Easter Sunday

We enjoyed a beautiful Easter Sunday together with Grandma Joyce and Grandpa Bruce. They came in town this weekend and we've had such a wonderful time. Brody could definitely be classified as a two year old now, but he managed to be a pretty good boy for Grandma and Grandpa (even stayed with them in their condo for his first sleepover party).
Despite what you might think, I didn't have to stuggle as hard as I thought I would to keep this hat on him. But, then again, he was probably preoccupied with all the egg hunt shenanigans.
Since the community egg hunt was canceled yesterday due to the rain, we had our own private little egg hunt in the back yard. Brody was all over it, running from egg to egg and only stopping a couple times to devour the candy inside.
We made a HUGE breakthrough today in Brody's eating habits. We've struggled for months to get him to eat anything green. But today, out of the blue, Brody discovered he loves eating broccoli. He was watching us all eat and asked Ty for "some?". To our shock and amazement, he stuffed the whole top in his mouth and proceeded to ask for more until all the broccoli we had left was gone. Yippee! My picky little eater likes a vegetable. It's only one so far, but maybe a new leaf is turning. Spinach leaf? We'll see.

Athlete vs. Artist

Brody is definitely the victim of first child syndrome, Jack of all trades, master of none. Well, he is only two. That doesn't stop him from trying everything. He's interested in whatever we throw at him and we may be a little bias, but he's really good at what ever he tries. For his birthday he got a new artist's easel with all the art supplies a two year old could imagine. But, he also received a soccer ball and goal set and a t-ball/pitching machine. He loves all of them and it's been a joy to watch him discover all the new things he can do. I think this is one of the best things about being a parent, letting your children explore and grow to find out what it is they love doing. I love you Brody and I know you'll be great at what ever you choose to do in life.

Two!

Brody loved trying to help decorate. He did get a little frustrated that he couldn't blow up the balloons, but that didn't stop him from trying harder.
Tyler and I stayed up stringing crepe paper all across the ceiling for our under the sea Nemo party. Tyler was not thrilled about my lofty idea, but he did it anyway. What a trooper.
Just the beginning of our massive food spread. BBQ hamburgers and hot dogs with all the fixin's. And pasta salad for days. Yum!
Poor little Brody wasn't feeling to hot all night, you can see it in his eyes. But, he participated in all the festivities and had a blast with his little friends.

He knew exactly what to do for cake time and was so excited to blow out his candles all by himself. Way to go my little man. We love you and are so proud of you. Keep growing, you're going to make such a great big brother.

Potty training update:

Our little man is growing up and with that comes big changes. He's slowly catching on to the idea of potty training, but thinks it's just funny so far. We're just going to keep on trying!
